Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are Revit files?

Revit files are digital representations of building components used within Autodesk’s Revit software, a leading Building Information Modeling (BIM) platform. They encompass various file types, including:

     • RVT (Revit Project File): Contains the complete project data, including architectural, structural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) information.

     • RFA (Revit Family File): Houses individual 3D components like lighting fixtures, doors, or windows that can be inserted into a project.

     • RTE (Revit Template File): Serves as a starting point for new projects, containing predefined settings and standards.

These files facilitate detailed 3D modeling, precise documentation, and efficient collaboration among architects, engineers, and construction professionals.

We build RFA's (Revit Family Files) for each lighting fixture in your product line as many manufacturers find this task well suited to be outsourced to those who know how and are well prepared to keep up with the constant software and standards changes. This can save significant costs and time for your company to focus on your products.

That's where we come in to simplify the process for you.

  • Why should we provide Revit files for our products?

Providing Revit files for your lighting fixtures ensures that architects and designers can seamlessly integrate your products into their BIM workflows. This integration enhances the likelihood of your fixtures being specified in projects, as professionals prefer readily available, high-quality digital representations that streamline the design process. Accurate Revit files also demonstrate your commitment to supporting industry standards, building trust with potential clients.

BIM and CAD programs provide limited generic fixture types for architects to imagine the lighting design. However, this inevitably results in issues with product fit and site coordination after it's too late to change wiring and fixture locations.

We can automate your Revit file database for use in popular CAD software as well as for keeping current in distributor databases.

  • How often will we need to update our Revit files?

Generally, the files need to be updated when any of the following happen:

    • Production line changes (hardware or software)
    • Release of New Product Features (ie. Lens Options, Gobo Wheel Changes)
    • Omissions
    • Corrections
    • IES or Photometry Measurement Updates
  • Who is behind RevitService?

We are Q2Q technologies, formerly known as Crescit. Over 35+ years, our team has developed expertise in core competencies of Entertainment Technology, Online Research, Graphics Design, Data Capture, eCommerce, Web Design, Cloud Application Development, and Cloud connected Mobile development for iOS and Android.

Since 2019, we have been developing and maintaining Fixture and Device 3D BIM files. Through our work with architects, lighitng designers, standards bodies and global fixture manufacturers, we have extensive experience and understanding of the requirements for successful support files to both sell more fixtures and support clients in the field.

  • How do our products get added to online Revit libraries?

We provide you with all the files for your fixtures so you can bulk upload them into the right library for your industry to get the most exposure.

Please reach out to yourfriends@Q2Qtechnologies.com if you have any questions or need help determining which libraries would be most effective marketing your products.

  • Do you have a sample of the Revit files that would be produced?

Yes, we can provide sample Revit files upon request. These samples showcase the quality and detail of our work, allowing you to assess how your products will be represented within the Revit environment.

  • Do I need to supply 2D symbols and 3D models for the fixtures?

No, not if you provide our team with the sufficient info and files. We can produce 2D symbols and 3D models for your fixtures.

Some of our clients like to provide their own models if they're already building them for other reasons but most use our service to produce them in a consistent manner.

  • I have 3D models for most of our products but not all. Can I add them later?

Yes, that's not a problem! Please reach out to our team at yourfriends@Q2Qtechnologies.com with any requests like this and we'll get it sorted asap.

  • How can I get my Revit files into Vectorworks?

To import one or more .gdtf files in Vectorworks:

    1. Select File > Import > Import Revit.
    2. Select the Revit file to import and click Open.

Bonus: Lightwright can sync from Vectorworks pulling your fixture data in.

  • Can I access the Crescit Cloud Fixture Library if I'm not a manufacturer?

    Yes! Anyone can request access.

If you are an architect, we offer a subscription to give you access to an extensive fixture database, well beyond Revit files with spec sheets, manuals, interactive photometric calculators, and the ability to add fixtures to a project to share with others on your team or even your clients.

Please send us an email addressed to yourfriends@Q2Qtechnologies.com requesting an Architectural Subscription to Crescit Cloud.
